Turkey is the second largest poultry species used in animal farming. While turkey meat is widely recognized as an important protein source in North America, it is still emerging as a pet food ingredient in Europe. The nutritional profile of turkey is comparable to chicken. Turkey meat is an excellent source of protein and a great natural source of glucosamine, a building block of cartilage tissue. The combination of turkey and sweet potato is especially popular in pet food applications.
IQI offers a wide range of dried turkey products, all of which are produced without using heads, feet, or viscera. Generally speaking, the processing of dried turkey is more gentle than the classical rendering. Enzyme technology is used to separate fat, drying is done by spray drying or other low temperature drying systems, and human-grade processing lines are used for most/some products. The ash levels in IQI’s dried turkey products are typically below 12% and always stabilized with natural antioxidants. Together with our suppliers, we can tailor product specifications to the needs of our customers.
